3PL (Third Party Logistics)

A third-party logistics company provides transportation services for goods, moving items from one location to another. They can employ drivers or contract with independent contractors (carriers or owner-operators). Carriers can be truckload (TL), less-than-truckload (LTL), or parcel carriers, depending on the size and type of shipments they handle.

Example

A white-glove last-mile logistics company partners with various independent contractors to ensure efficient transportation of goods from manufacturers to distribution centers and customers' homes. They may work with truckload carriers for large shipments, LTL carriers for smaller loads, and parcel carriers for small package deliveries, depending on the specific needs of their clients.
